Call for Submissions: Teaching Tools for Bridging Science and Societal Partners
Following the workshop "Teaching Tools for Bridging Science and Societal Partners", held on 23 June 2026 in Bern, our “Innovative Teaching” project group in collaboration with network for transdisciplinary research (td-net), invites lecturers and educators to submit concrete teaching tools for an add-on to the td-net toolbox, which contains methods and tools for co-producing knowledge.
This call builds directly on the second part of the workshop, where participants worked in thematic groups (prototyping, stakeholder boards, creative methods, role plays and games, and reflection on the science–policy/practice interface) to develop and refine teaching tools. We now invite workshop participants, as well as other interested lecturers and educational developers from Higher Education Institutions, to formalize these tools (or related ones) as written contributions.
What we're looking for
By filling the tool template provided below, contributions should present a single, concrete teaching tool (rather than a complete course or teaching format) that can be readily integrated into existing courses or educational settings. Examples of teaching tools include, but are not limited to, learning activities, stakeholder engagement methods, innovative assessment approaches, facilitation techniques, or other transferable pedagogical resources. All tools should foster learning at the science–society interface, preferably by engaging students with societal actors (public sector, businesses, civil society actors, etc.) Each contribution should also enable educators from different disciplines to adapt and implement the tool in their own teaching contexts.
Authors are encouraged to collaborate with others whose contributions use similar tool formats, helping to enhance coherence and comparability across the collection. To do so, please fill in the following spreadsheet.
Review process
All submissions will be reviewed in a double blind process by a joint review panel of the Swiss Young Academy and the network for transdisciplinary research (td-net) of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences. Revisions are expected to take place in late autumn and winter.
Publication
Selected contributions will be made freely available online through the td-net platform and assigned a DOI to ensure long-term accessibility and citation. Publication is planned for the first half of 2027.
