Background
CosmoVision Arts is a creative, transdisciplinary initiative exploring Indigenous and local worldviews - known as ''cosmovisions'' through artistic expression. Rooted in decolonial, participatory, and art-based transdisciplinary research, the project aims to amplify plural epistemologies and bridge science, art, and community knowledge. It culminates in a co-authored artistic e book and a Science-Society Art Café, featuring storytelling, performance, and dialogue. These activities foster embodied learning and collaborative knowledge creation, recognizing the pluriverse as a space of interconnected lifeworlds and sustainable futures.
Goals
CosmoVision Arts, proposes to explore how artistic and collaborative methodologies as part of transdisciplinary research processes can serve as bridges between local and scientific worldviews, fostering transdisciplinary engagement at the intersection of science and arts.
The project embraces a participatory and collaborative approach, integrating art-based methodologies, decolonial research ethics, and storytelling traditions to co-produce knowledge that is inclusive, accessible, and transformative. We will explore questions such as:
1) How does cosmovision contribute to the recognition of the pluriverse ?
2) How can collaborative artistic expressions enhance our understanding of epistemological diversity in various ways?
By fostering transdisciplinary dialogues and artistic knowledge production, CosmoVision Arts aims to redefine knowledge discourses, empower a diverse range of knowledge holders, and create a methodological pathway that supports the recognition of the pluriverse and therefore epistemological diversity.
Our major goal with this project, is to recognise the pluriverse and various epistemologies and to amplify the voices of local and Indigenous knowledge holders and create a space for dialogue at the intersection of science and arts.
Planned Activities
Co-creation of a Science-Art Digital Publication, that captures pluralistic perspectives of diverse scientific and human phenomena.
A launch as part of a Science-Society Art Café, an event with speakers and exhibits.
